Medical Innovation at the Crossroads: Choosing the Path Ahead

On January 12, 2011, the Council for American Medical Innovation (CAMI) hosted a national innovation symposium, "Medical Innovation at the Crossroads: Choosing the Path Ahead."

In an era of healthcare system transformation, deficit reduction, and increasing global competition, the U.S. is challenged to preserve and build its most distinguishing asset:  its leadership in medical innovation.   The half-day innovation symposium examined the most effective federal policy strategies supporting U.S. medical innovation as a cornerstone for job creation, economic recovery and health security to all Americans.

Participants included several distinguished national thought leaders, including: 
  • Aneesh Chopra, U.S. Chief Technology Officer, Assistant to the President and Associate Director of Technology, Office of Science & Technology Policy

Panel discussions on federal and state policy directions featured global business leaders, policymakers, economic strategists, academic scholars, and experts, all contributing to this urgent dialogue on how the U.S. can navigate current challenges and stay the course as a worldwide leader in medical innovation.
